In short
Games you make, in the editor or through your agent, are kept on this website, for you alone. The Gamesteel program your agent runs does its work on your machine, and keeps its copies there. This website keeps an account for you only if you make one, and runs no analytics.
This website
One cookie remembers the language you pick in the site’s footer, for a year, and nothing else. Once you log in, a second keeps you signed in, for 30 days at most. The site uses no analytics or trackers. Its fonts, pictures and scripts are its own: it loads nothing from anyone else.
Accounts
An account keeps your email, a hash of your password (never the password itself), the language you signed up in, and when you signed up and signed in. Render runs our server and keeps the database it is stored in. Resend sends our emails, so it receives your address and what each email says. Deleting your account on its Account page deletes all of it at once.
Payments go through Stripe. When you choose a plan, your card is entered on Stripe’s own page and kept by Stripe, never by us; we keep only your plan, its seats, whether it is paid, and Stripe’s reference to you. What Stripe keeps comes under its own privacy policy.
Your games
On the website, your games, with their art, sounds and fonts, are kept by our server on Render, every file stored in Cloudflare R2, and only your account opens them. Deleting a game deletes it there, and deleting your account deletes them all.
On your machine, the Gamesteel program keeps what it needs to work for you: its sign-in to this website, its working copies of the games your agent opens (under ~/.gamesteel/device), the instruments it downloads (under ~/.gamesteel/instruments), and the apps it builds (under ~/Gamesteel/builds). They are yours, on your machine, and you can delete them at any time.
What it downloads
The first time a game needs Gamesteel's instruments, the Gamesteel program on your machine downloads a free sound font, MuseScore General, from the Oregon State University Open Source Lab, and sends nothing about you or your games. The Xcode project Gamesteel makes for an iPhone app fetches Capacitor, the framework it is built on, when you open it in Xcode on your Mac; like any download, that server sees your machine's address.
Your agent
The agent you connect is run by its own provider. What you ask it, and the parts of your games it reads to answer, go to that provider under its privacy policy, not this one.
Changes
When this page changes, its date changes with it.
